Ethical Product Management in an Increasing Complex & Divided World

Many people are familiar with the quote “With great power, comes great responsibilities” which was popularized by the Spider-Man comics and movies. While Product Managers and other product professionals often have to get work done by exerting influence without authority, meaning power might not be coming in traditional forms - they definitely have “product superpowers” and are in positions to drive the directions of the products they build, and heavily influencing the habits users form from using their products. Product people are responsible for making their products safe, accessible, and ethical. The line can get blurry when we strive for perceived success for our users and success for our products. In this session, Timothy will explore how we practice ethical product management and prioritize our users’ safety, wellness and success while we maintain product excellence.
